A woman and her physician husband, John, rent a rural house to allow the heroine to recover from a depression shortly after childbirth.I am sure the short story was a strong commentary on the times, delving into misdiagnosed postpartum depression and the "you'll get over it" attitude. But, the power of the message was lost on me.
